From Mike Elliott, Clerk Widmerpool Parish Council:
The parish council have received a number of comments from residents in regard to an upsurge in the lighting of garden bonfires during the daytime.
Currently many residents are in isolation because of the coronavirus and during a nice day like to take the opportunity to sit in their gardens to get some fresh air. Often this opportunity is being hampered bysmoke from garden bonfires which floats into the air, and sometimes over the gardens, where the residents are sitting outside.
We ask that if bonfires have to be lit, these are left until the evening, when it is getting cooler and fewer people will be sitting outside.
